Tech Talk 4: Digital platforms and cultural diversity

Drawing on a critical analysis of subscription video-on-demand platforms, such as Netflix, this talk explores how cultural diversity is incorporated into, and “recommended” by, the digital platforms’ algorithmic intermediation of cultural content.
Kyong Yoon is a Seoul-born media researcher. His research interests include digital media audiences, digital platforms, migration, and South Korean popular culture. He is currently the UBCO Principal Research Chair in Trans-Pacific Digital Platform Studies and works in the Department of English and Cultural Studies.
