We were thrilled to kick off our annual Tech Talk series this week in the lab and to welcome guests Marjorie Mitchell (UBCO Library) and Felicity Tayler<\/a> (U Ottawa Library). A group of eager listeners and engaged respondents joined our guest speakers on Tuesday, September 13th for a 20 minute overview of the Data Primer: Making Digital Humanities Research Data Public<\/a> by Felicity Tayler, Marjorie Mitchell, Chantal Ripp, and Pascale Dangoisse, with over 30 other co-authors contributing to the project, including our very own lab director Karis Shearer<\/a> and former lab director Constance Crompton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The “Data Primer” is an excellent source for concise information around different aspects of data curation and management best practices for digital humanities researchers. With pragmatic tools such as a data management plan, and writings from digital humanities experts, the book serves as a tool and a source of consideration for how we manage and make public our data, and what data means exactly to various researchers in both digital and non-digital humanities.<\/p>\n
